Insomniac Games’ CEO and founder, Ted Price, to step down after 30 years

Ted Price, the founder and CEO of Insomniac Games, has announced his retirement, set for March next year.

In his announcement, Price first acknowledged the devastating fires affecting Los Angeles, California—home to Insomniac—and expressed gratitude to his colleagues who have “rallied to help others” during this challenging time. He then confirmed his decision to step down after more than three decades at the helm.

“Thanks to the team’s persistence and collaboration, Insomniac is in one of the strongest positions we’ve experienced in years, with every game in development looking stunning and playing beautifully,” Price stated. “After over 30 years of leading Insomniac, I felt it was simply the right time to step aside and allow others to chart the future of our team.”

When Price departs, Insomniac Games will be led by new co-studio heads Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang. Price expressed full confidence in the trio’s ability to guide the studio forward. “There is no way I would ever consider passing the reins to anyone I didn’t trust to care for Insomniacs and lead the team to even greater heights. Chad, Jen, and Ryan are exactly that team,” he said.

Reflecting on his time at the studio, Price shared his gratitude: “Insomniac has been my life, my home away from home, for three decades. I want to thank every Insomniac for the positive and lasting impact they’ve had on my life. Working alongside them for so many years has been a gift I’ll treasure for the rest of my days.”
