Arc Games Rises: Former Gearbox Publishing San Francisco Rebrands

Video game publisher Gearbox Publishing San Francisco has shed its former name, transforming into Arc Games. The announcement came from Magic Design Studios, the developers behind Have a Nice Death, via social media.

“We’re still the same crew of passionate gamers who brought you beloved titles like Remnant, Have a Nice Death, Star Trek Online, and Neverwinter,” Arc Games reassured fans. “We’re thrilled to keep delivering exciting experiences, with Gigantic: Rampage Edition, Hyper Light Breaker, and upcoming unannounced titles for 2025 and beyond!”

This rebrand signifies the latest chapter in the publishing house’s history. Originally known as Perfect World Entertainment, the company was acquired by Embracer Group in 2021. Following the merger in 2022, it transitioned to the Gearbox Publishing San Francisco moniker.

The news of Arc Games arrives just weeks after Take-Two Interactive announced a $460 million deal to purchase Gearbox Entertainment from Embracer. As part of the divestment, the publishing arm, now Arc Games, retains the publishing rights for several established games.
